Celebrity Waiters:
What are celebrity waiters ?
Celebrity waiters are a concept well known in the US at charity fund raising events. Essentially the normal 'charity dinner' is elevated to a new level by having celebrities serve and entertain the guests (donors).
Celebrities are always high profile members of the community and will include; politicians, television and radio personalities, athletes, firefighters , police and comedians – they wait on the tables entertaining the paying guests.
Thinking of this style of event for your non–profit fundraiser ?
Although we are unaware of Australians using this style of event for fundraising , we are sure someone somewhere has tried it – If you would like to, then a great resource for this style of event can be found here: How to Produce Fabulous Fundraising Events: Reap Remarkable Returns with Minimal Effort – by Betty Stallings and Donna McMillion. This study in fundraising activities has a large section (pages 87–125) given to instructions for hosting a celebrity waiter dinner.
And here in Australia ?
We are not aware of events being held in Australia in the classic US format outlined earlier, although we may just not know about them, however we do have two particularly superb groups available to us that may well fulfill the role:
You can have your guests dress in style and perhaps contact The Three Waiters or The Singing Waiters who not being 'waiters' at all but actors and professional singers offer an extensive repertoire from which to entertain your guests. The Three Waiters and The Singing Waiters are sought after acts for the corporate stage and fundraising events. If you have experienced the agony of trying to dream up new and exciting ways to make an event the one that sticks in everyone's minds or if you have the job of attracting charity donors to a 'fun' night out these two groups can make your event fun and memorable whilst introducing that added element which will draw people to come – and leave them excited when they leave.
